Shallow Waters (2014)
You know deep down you’re worth more, but you stay on the surface because you’re afraid the water might drown you.
Attachment (2014)
Perhaps we choose to attach ourselves to people who represent our fears, in hopes that seeing a change in them will induce a similar transformation in ourselves.
Thoughts from Spanish Homework (2014)
“No siempre es fácil apreciar lo que tenemos porque damos más importancia a lo que no tenemos”
“I’m hungry” (2015)
“I’m hungry.” I’m guilty for always using this phrase, and perhaps many of you are as well. Yet, even after downing a few pounds of food, I am not fully satisfied. How can I tell when I am truly hungry? I’ve come to realize that I’m not really literally hungry. I’m actually more hungry for exploring, learning, and just overall new experiences. I’m hungry for meeting people from different cultural backgrounds, discovering new interests, gaining knowledge, and finding out more about myself. The growth I need isn’t physical (it won’t work at this point anyway), but rather, mental.
The Unknown (2014)
Planning ahead, thinking about the future, waiting for the bus…we are all always doing something that requires a look into what is to come, which is essentially unknown to all of us. We may have expectations, or believe that something will take place, but ultimately, we cannot guarantee it. So why waste time trying to chase it?
Naked Beauty (2014)
Winter has, without asking, taken off the jacket of leaves from trees once again. It’s not something we didn’t see coming, nor something we could control- only something we witness and can choose to either admire or despise.
While the trees become barren in appearance, we bundle up in layers and look fuller than ever. But, like the bodies of the trees, we may sometimes still feel exposed and empty. The cold air hits, piercing hearts…an icy spell that eventually freezes them. No one can visibly notice such an event taking place; the sensation that is felt within is much stronger.
We’re so used to believing that color represents beauty, that trees are prettiest when Autumn arrives to dye their leaves. However, fall leaves will fall, and in the end, winter will still happen.
Along the same lines, we should not forget that although winter trees may be naked, snow wraps around them, and softly purifies all blemishes that are revealed.
There’s beauty no matter the time, the physical appearance, or the feelings involved. As the trees are ever-changing throughout the year, we must learn to accept the temporary and enjoy what is in front of us, because every moment is significant and beautiful.
This Moment (2014)
I mean everything I say, the moment I say it. What are promises then, you ask? They are made to secure a certain turnout of an event in which the individuals involved are not confident will happen. Things are changing every year, every day, every minute, every second. We cannot control every thing, so let’s not try to. Work on what you can control right now, and that is being honest with yourself and with others, at this very moment.
Your Presence (2014, edited 2020)
You need to figure out what it is that you want others to feel in your presence. Then, try your best to bring that feeling out. Sometimes, we have to pretend until we succeed, sometimes people will give you that honor without you trying hard. The effect of your presence does not only depend on your reflection and effort, but also the people with whom you decide to surround yourself.
Heartfelt (July 28, 2020)
Knowing that someone spent minutes, or hours or days thinking, getting, or making me something meaningful really melts my heart. When I saw what my friends and family said to me, or what they gave me for my birthday, my mind was nonstop thinking how much time they spent on me JUST to make me smile and feel loved and special. I’m so lucky to have them in my life, and I hope they know how much they mean to me.
No one owes you anything in this life, so for them to do something for you without you asking for it, that is such a pure gesture filled with love and care. You should never take that for granted.

If it resonates, it resonates (July 29, 2020)
Writing out your thoughts and then pulling a card that when you read the meanings, resonates, is such a good, calming feeling. It’s okay if you don’t believe in this stuff, but for me, it’s more about the clarity and confidence I can gain to move forward. I don’t really like using it to predict things, but I do enjoy using it to explore the present moment.
Listen to the Little Prince (September 13, 2020)
If we listened to the Little Prince’s pure questions and actually reflected on them without our egos/material concerns/stress in the way, maybe we could learn to be more appreciative of what we have in life.
